JBL L100 Classic MkII: A retro speaker packed with modern features

JBL is continuing to breathe new life into its iconic L100 speakers from the mid-20th century. The first revival occurred approximately five years ago, and the latest iteration was unveiled at the High End Munich 2023 exhibition, maintaining its signature retro appeal. JBL highlights “significant internal updates” that are part of a comprehensive set of enhancements known as the Performance Package. Notably, the 30-cm woofer of the L100 has been designed for improved linearity, resulting in lower distortion levels. Additionally, advancements have been made to the inch titanium tweeter and the 12.5 cm midrange driver. The crossover circuit has also seen enhancements, now allowing for a two-way connection. Furthermore, the speaker cable terminals, which are now coated in “premium gold” for enhanced connectivity, have been made more versatile, according to JBL.
